AccessCare has extended the validity of its taxi cards to six months to ensure they remain a valuable resource for clients.

The taxi card program is an affordable way for people with difficulties accessing suitable transport to get out and about. Taxi cards are highly flexible and can be used for a range of regular activities, including shopping, social events, visiting family, going to church and attending appointments.

Previously, AccessCare’s taxi cards were valid for a total of three months only; however, client feedback highlighted that three months was not long enough for people who were using the taxi cards for chronic medical conditions, such as chemotherapy. Based on this feedback, AccessCare decided to extend this validity by an additional three months, to ensure the cards are as beneficial as possible to clients.

“Feedback from our clients is vitally important to how we run our programs and services at AccessCare,” says Margie Hanrahan, AccessCare Manager. “We are always looking for ways to improve and adapt our services to meet our clients’ needs, and we hope that this change to our taxi card program will further support our clients to maintain their independence.”

Currently, AccessCare’s taxi cards are available to clients living within the Kingston, Bayside, Glen Eira, Stonnington and Port Phillip LGAs. These cards are designed for clients who have ongoing transport needs, and as such, the taxi cards need to be used within a six-month period to ensure they are not cancelled. Clients with more infrequent transport are encouraged to contact AccessCare’s transport team to discuss more suitable alternatives.
