Transport and social connections

An AccessCare client sits in the passenger side seat of a support worker's car.

Have you stopped driving and need support to get out and about? Whether you need assistance getting to medical appointments, visiting the local shops or connecting with friends socially, AccessCare provides a range of transport options to help you stay mobile in your community.

Community bus

The community bus is available to people living in the Kingston LGA who are unable to access alternative forms of transport. A number of regular routes exist throughout the City of Kingston to assist people to access key services and facilities within the community, such as shopping centres, the local library and recreational facilities.

Volunteer transport

AccessCare’s volunteer transport service is available within the City of Kingston and beyond to provide community members with door-to-door transport to medical appointments. Support is also available to visit a family member in hospital or residential care.

Taxi cards

Taxi cards are an affordable way for people with difficulties accessing suitable transport to get out and about. They are highly flexible and can be used for a range of regular activities, including shopping, social events, visiting family, going to church and attending appointments.

Social Links service

AccessCare aims to help members of our community to build strong social connections with our Social Links service. Through this service, clients are matched with a dedicated volunteer, and then supported to spend quality time together doing a social activity of the client’s choosing. The purpose of this service is to support good mental health by aiding lonely and isolated older community members to having meaningful social contact with other people.

Social calendar

Through our community bus service, AccessCare offers an engaging social activities program that is designed to keep Kingston locals socially connected. We are able to offer clients access to day trips, social luncheons, local entertainment and more, with destinations located throughout Kingston and beyond, including down the Mornington Peninsula and up to the Yarra Ranges.
