Brand-new route added to community bus service

AccessCare is happy to announce it has added the Danny Frawley Centre to its community bus transport service, completing the first trip to this mental and physical fitness facility last week.

This state-of-the-art community centre was selected as our newest bus route because of its high-quality facilities. The Danny Frawley Centre offers a heated swimming pool, aqua aerobics classes, a fully equipped gym and group wellness classes.

The biggest drawcard, however, was the hydrotherapy pool. Previously, the only hydrotherapy pool AccessCare clients were able to access through the community bus service was at PARC in Frankston. While this leisure centre has proven to be very popular with many of our clients, it is quite far for our city-side clients to travel. The Danny Frawley Centre is located in Moorabbin, at the northern border of the City of Kingston, meaning it is ideally situated for clients in the Moorabbin, Dingley, Highett, Clarinda and Oakleigh South areas.

“It’s great to see so many of our clients starting to participate in our community bus service again following the lockdowns,” says Margie Hanrahan, Manager AccessCare. “It’s wonderful that clients feel comfortable going swimming and getting involved in healthy activities again.”

Another benefit of adding the Danny Frawley Centre to our bus schedule is that it provides an opportunity for our clients to connect socially as well. Not only do they get to exercise, but they can have a coffee in the centre café afterwards and chat to the other bus users while they wait to be picked up again and driven home.

Currently, the AccessCare community bus visits the Danny Frawley Centre every Tuesday, with a maximum capacity of nine to ten clients. If community demand grows for this destination, additional services may be added to the schedule.
