Funding and eligibility

Knowing what funding options you may be eligible for when considering home care services is important.

Three key funding options are available depending on your situation and the level of care you require. They are:

  • Commonwealth Home Support Programme
  • Support at Home
  • Private fee-paying

Commonwealth Home Support Programme

This program helps people with low-level support needs continue living independently at home, with services ranging from light housework to assisted shopping and transportation to medical appointments.

Support at Home

This program assists people with more complex care needs while living in their home.

You'll be assigned one of eight classification levels if you're eligible. Each level determines your quarterly funding to access ongoing services like clinical care, independence support and everyday living assistance.

Private fee-paying

We also offer support and care on a private fee-paying basis. The reasons this might apply to you are:

  • You may not be eligible for government-funded support
  • You are a self-funded retiree and choose to go privately rather than pay higher income-tested fees
  • You would like more immediate care while waiting to be allocated funding in the Support at Home Priority System
  • You prefer not to go through the assessment process for Support at Home

With this option, you can start receiving your support straight away.
